| Shalom To All!I am currently in the United States, but closely following the serious conflict between the Palestinian Hamas movement and Israeli military forces in the Middle East. Like many of you, I am doing so mainly via the internet, but am also watching TV reports carried by various media outlets including Israel’s new 24/7 news channel that broadcasts from Jaffa Port due south of Tel Aviv. The I-24 two hour updates are carried twice a day on a Jewish cable channel that I receive. The shooting down Monday night of a Hamas pilotless drone aircraft that had penetrated Israel’s border near the port city of Ashdod, along with the recent firing of rockets into Israel from Lebanon, probably by Palestinians living there, are very serious new developments indeed. The Iron Dome anti-missile system—the best thing my American tax dollars have helped pay for in many years, in my estimation—would be very pressed to take out all incoming rockets aimed at built up areas if they are being fired simultaneously from both the north and south. On top of that, the Hizbullah militia’s missile arsenal is known to be vastly larger and more powerful than that possessed by the Palestinian Hamas militia and its Gaza-based allies. So if the Iranian-backed militia fully enters the conflict it would be a dramatic game changer for sure. Although talk of an imminent ceasefire is growing, I expect that even if one successfully takes hold it would not be long before additional armed attacks are launched against the Jewish State, especially given the spreading warfare in Iraq, the ongoing conflict in Syria, and Iran’s ominous nuclear development program.I do feel a bit like a fish out of water watching the latest conflict unfold from the other side of the world. Still, I must admit that after covering previous wars from inside of the country for over three decades, it is also nice to be further away from the latest flames to engulf the Lord’s especial land. I am of course keeping in touch with friends and contacts in Israel, along with watching daily television reports on the conflict done by Chris Mitchell (CBN) and other media colleagues I’ve worked with for many years. However you may have already noticed that I am no longer writing my monthly Israel News Update reports, which were mainly done for the UK office of Christian Friends of Israel. I began authoring those reports in April 1984 and did my last one in April 2014, so exactly 30 years later! This was not planned…I was expecting to continue on with them until the end of this year, as I mentioned in an earlier message, but my mother’s sudden passing one day before Mother’s Day in May interrupted that month’s report, and so we decided to discontinue the monthly reports at that point.
As of last week, I am also no longer recording Eye on the Middle East daily radio reports for the Friends of Israel group based near Philadelphia here in America. I am quite busy at present with some other relocation projects and so decided to quit those earlier than planned as well (I was also expecting to produce them for the rest of this year). However if you want to hear my latest thoughts and observations on Israel and the turbulent region, I plan to continue weekly radio interviews conducted by Jimmy DeYoung for his Prophecy Today program which is heard in many parts of America and on the Internet. My reports usually appear every Saturday at around 1:15 PM EST in America, or at 10:15 in the west. To listen online then or at any time after that, go to their website, www.prophecytoday.com I am also doing interviews when requested for other outlets, including one later this week for a Christian network based in the Midwest. I also plan to continue writing articles for some publications from time to time, such as one coming up later this year for the Israel My Glory magazine.
I do hope to get back to Israel for a month or so next spring, but possibly even earlier if the situation warranted that. I am also hoping to begin work on a new book next year, although I may first write an update to my book HOLY WAR FOR THE PROMISED LAND, which was first published in 1991 at the start of the Gulf War. Many of you know that I have already done three updates to that best selling history of the long and bitter Arab/Muslim conflict with the modern reborn Jewish State of Israel. I also plan to keep this IsraelUpdate list up and running for the time being at least, and so you may receive special updates from me as the situation in the Middle East warrants. Meantime I am joining many of you in praying for Israel in these difficult days….it sure is good to do that while knowing the end of the story as foretold in the Bible many moons ago! As we await the next Tetrad blood moon on the first night of the Feast of Tabernacles in early October, we can thank the Holy One of Israel that His eternal reign in not even remotely affected by the growing turmoil in Israel and its surrounding neighbors!
